What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapeutic technique that utilises the state of hypnosis to facilitate positive change in individuals. At its core, hypnotherapy aims to unlock the immense potential of the subconscious mind.
Contrary to popular misconceptions, under hypnosis you are fully aware and in control of your actions. You can chose to accept and reject suggestions given by the hypnotherapist. The therapist acts as a facilitator who guides you towards your desired outcomes, using suggestions tailored towards your specific needs.
The effectiveness of hypnotherapy lies in it’s ability to access the subconscious mind, where deeply ingrained behaviours, beliefs and emotions reside. By replacing a negative mindset with a more helpful one, hypnotherapy can help you create positive habits which lead you closer to your goals.
What can it help with?
Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues including:
weight management
anxiety
smoking cessation
stress
skin complaints
insomnia
menopause symptoms
phobias
irritable bowel syndrome
low moods
anger management
confidence
procrastination
motivation
pain management
fears
self esteem
What can I expect?
Hypnotherapy is a collaborative experience between the client and therapist promoting positive change and wellbeing. The initial consultation session will involve me asking questions about your lifestyle, habits and specific issues you want to address. By exploring your issues I am able to tailor the sessions to meet your needs and assist you to reach your goals.
During a hypnosis session I will guide you into a relaxed state where your mind will be more receptive to suggestion. This may involve breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation and visualisation.
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and the relaxation helps you to access your subconscious mind to bring about positive changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The trance-like state is similar to daydreaming, being absorbed in a film or a book.
I may introduce other therapies such as NLP, EFT (tapping) and Mindfulness and also give you a recording to listen to, or activities for you to carry out between sessions in order to strengthen the results.
What about confidentiality?
Your confidentiality and trust is of paramount importance to me. I adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional conduct and understand the importance of creating a safe and secure space where you can freely express your thoughts, feelings and personal struggles without fear of information being disclosed to others. I follow the legal requirements and guidelines of the General Data Protection Register.
